SWAMP FOX KNIVES strives to bring you historically accurate hand forged reproductions of knives which were used during the formative years of the United States. They look original because they are made like the originals... hand forged with hammer and anvil. These knives are representative of the period 1750 - 1865, are researched to be historically correct and offer a unique touch of the past for reenactors and living historians (Longhunters, Muzzle loaders, Revolutionary War, French and Indian War, War of 1812, Civil War, Mountainmen, Fur Traders, Buckskinners, Cowboy) and general collectors and museums.
If you have seen The Last of the Mohicans or The Patriot movie and liked the accouterments used, then you have come to the right site. I supplied several knives for "extras" in these movies. In addition to knives I make bag axes, hunting bags, flint strikers, powder horns, powder measures, hunting pouches, shot bags, tomahawks, war clubs and simple hand-sewn leather knife sheaths. The Alamo (version with Billy Bob Thornton) has several of my hunting bags and bag accessories in it. More recent commissioned movie work was three knives for The Conspirator and three for Mysterious Island, Adventure II. The Conspirator did not have any close ups of the knives much to everyone'd disappointment. All pieces were researched with two pieces made from specs provided by the Ford's Theater museum. The etching was done by my brother-in-law, Jon Moran. For curious readers, one of the knives was published in USA Today (April 27, 2010) in a "released scene" photo that can be searched on the internet. My most recent movie work was for a Jules Verne picture; Mysterious Island, Journey II. Realease date is 10 February 2012. Conspirator knives are below for those wanting to see some of the work involved. Appropriate sheaths were made also.
